Periplus Workshops is an interdisciplinary creative program exploring creativity as a catalyst for the common good. Working within isolated and underrepresented communities across Greece, each workshop becomes an open laboratory for making, material experimentation, local identity, and connection to place.

I first joined Periplus as a participant and have since become an ongoing collaborator, contributing to workshop development, facilitation, creative research, and documentation.

Material potential—a focus of my own creative practice—is central to this work. Overlooked, discarded, donated, and locally available materials become starting points for experimentation, encouraging participants to explore what they might become rather than work toward predetermined outcomes.

These discoveries contribute to a growing material archive, where processes, recipes, failures, and transformations are documented and carried forward—allowing each workshop to inform the next.

My Contribution

Working alongside the Periplus team, I help translate each workshop’s themes into hands-on investigations—developing creative prompts, facilitating material experimentation, supporting participants throughout the making process, and documenting discoveries as they emerge. My role bridges creative strategy, education, and making, helping shape both the participant experience and the evolving methodology of Periplus.

In 2024, I developed the Periplus Material Periodic Table to document and map participants’ material investigations. Created in both physical and digital formats, it charts the transformations of organic and manufactured materials foraged from and donated by the local community. Now a permanent fixture of the workshop, it serves as a living archive—preserving discoveries from each iteration while revealing the seemingly limitless potential of even the most ordinary materials.

In 2026, I conceived and led the creation of Periplus Dispatch as a way to extend the life of the workshops beyond the boundaries of place and time. The publication brings together ideas, experiments, stories, and creative practices emerging from the Periplus community—creating a lasting platform for what begins during the workshops to continue evolving.
